Breaking: FBI Raids Office of Top Virginia Democrat

FBI agents executed a search warrant at the Portsmouth office of State Senator Louise Lucas on Wednesday morning. Lucas, a high-ranking Democrat and the President Pro Tempore of the Virginia Senate, is reportedly the focus of what federal sources characterize as a major corruption investigation.

The activity was first reported by Fox News’ Bill Melugin, who confirmed the presence of federal investigators at the scene. Lucas has long been considered one of the most influential “power brokers” in Virginia politics; however, the specific nature of the allegations driving this federal probe has not yet been publicly disclosed.

According to Melugin, federal law enforcement sources confirmed the searches are linked to a “major corruption probe.” During the execution of the raid, Lucas reportedly arrived at the scene in person.

Melugin further noted that agents were simultaneously serving warrants at an adjacent marijuana dispensary.

The search warrants were approved by a federal judge prior to the agents’ arrival on Wednesday morning. Fox News correspondent Alex Hogan joined Melugin on-site to cover the development.

A fixture in state politics, Lucas has represented her district since 1992 and currently serves the 18th Senate District following her 2023 re-election. As the Senate President Pro Tempore since 2020, she is regarded as one of Virginia’s most powerful figures and maintains a close political relationship with Democratic Governor Abigail Spanberger.
