A NORAD fighter jet intercepted a civilian aircraft Saturday after it violated restricted airspace over Bedminster, New Jersey—where President Donald Trump is spending the holiday weekend.
According to officials, the general aviation plane committed five separate airspace violations before the NORAD jet conducted a “headbutt maneuver,” a standard technique used to get the pilot’s attention. The aircraft was safely escorted out of the restricted zone without incident or injury.
NORAD has confirmed a rise in similar airspace violations in recent weeks and is urging private pilots to thoroughly review all flight advisories before operating near restricted zones—especially around presidential locations.

President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump had arrived in Bedminster following a patriotic night in Washington, D.C., where they participated in Fourth of July festivities. The couple boarded Air Force One late Friday, with Trump pumping his fist to supporters as Melania walked beside him.
Earlier that evening, the president hosted a picnic on the South Lawn for military families. He addressed the crowd from the White House balcony before signing what he called his “Big, Beautiful Bill” into law—a sweeping legislative package pushed through by Congress just in time to meet the Trump-imposed Independence Day deadline.
