MLB legend sells incredible lakefront mansion for $3.5M just days after revealing life-changing family news

Baseball legend Miguel Cabrera is wrapping up a whirlwind week that has seen major changes in both his personal and professional life, with the finalization of his divorce and the sale of his luxurious lakefront home coming just days apart.

Cabrera, who amassed a staggering $393 million during his illustrious MLB career—most of it with the Detroit Tigers—retired from playing in 2023 at age 41. He now serves in the Tigers’ front office as a special assistant to the president of baseball operations.

Off the field, however, things have been far more turbulent. According to TMZ, Cabrera’s now ex-wife, Rosangel, has been seeking a divorce for nearly eight years. She first filed for separation back in 2017 after 15 years of marriage but later withdrew the petition.

That changed this summer when she moved forward with the split, citing that the marriage was “irretrievably broken.” A judge officially finalized the divorce on June 18, closing the chapter on what had been a lengthy and strained relationship.

Just one day later, on June 19, Cabrera listed his stunning estate in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, for $3,485,000. The six-bedroom, 10-bathroom mansion sits on the shores of Lake St. Clair and boasts amenities such as a private pool, tennis courts, and direct lake access. The home was quickly snapped up at full asking price just 13 days after it hit the market, according to Realtor.com—a testament to its appeal and perhaps a sign Cabrera was ready to move on from his past.

The sale of the property marks a significant transition for the former slugger, whose personal life has quietly made headlines even as his professional legacy continues to shine. Cabrera is widely regarded as one of baseball’s greatest hitters. A 12-time All-Star and World Series champion in his rookie year with the then-Florida Marlins, Cabrera’s stats place him in truly elite company.

He is one of just three players in Major League Baseball history to finish his career with a batting average above .300, more than 500 home runs, and at least 3,000 hits—joining the legendary ranks of Hank Aaron and Willie Mays.

After five standout seasons with the Marlins, Cabrera was traded to the Tigers, where he spent the remaining 15 years of his playing career. His retirement may have marked the end of an era on the field, but his continued role with Detroit ensures his presence in the sport remains strong.

Though this week has seen personal upheaval, it also seems to mark a fresh start for Cabrera as he moves forward—unburdened and focused on his next chapter in the game he helped define.
