Chilling details emerge after mass shooting at Fourth of July bar party

Disturbing new details have surfaced about the mass shooting that erupted in the early hours of Saturday morning, leaving eight people hospitalized following a chaotic Fourth of July celebration in Philadelphia.

The gunfire broke out just before 4 a.m. at 7 Elements, a second-floor bar situated in a shopping center at the intersection of 11th Street and Washington Avenue in South Philadelphia. The Philadelphia Police Department responded swiftly after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired and several people down.

Authorities have not yet identified any suspects, and it’s still unknown if more than one shooter was involved. The investigation remains active and ongoing.

According to police, the violence began after a physical confrontation on the bar’s balcony escalated. Shortly afterward, gunshots rang out, sending patrons scrambling for cover as chaos unfolded inside the late-night establishment.

“Several individuals sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to area hospitals,” a police spokesperson said in a statement to Daily Mail. “All victims are currently in stable condition.”

The injured victims, ranging in age from 25 to 43, mostly suffered gunshot wounds to their limbs. Among them were two security guards, both 43 years old—one hit in the groin and the other wounded in the left arm. A 28-year-old woman arrived at the hospital on her own after being shot in the knee. Altogether, the victims were treated at four different local medical centers.

Initial reports had suggested as many as 11 people were wounded, but the total was later revised to eight after further investigation.

Crime scene investigators discovered bullet casings both on the upper floor of the bar and on the staircase leading down to the parking lot, indicating that shots may have been fired from multiple positions. The entire shopping plaza was cordoned off Saturday morning as police combed the area for additional evidence.

7 Elements, according to its website, typically operates from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Saturday. By the time officers arrived, the bar had already closed. However, police said they were forced to breach the doors to ensure that no additional victims were still inside.

“This business should not have been open that late,” Philadelphia Police Inspector D.F. Pace said during a press conference. “Upon our arrival, the doors were shut. We had to make sure no one else was hurt or hiding inside.”

Pace added that, fortunately, all victims were expected to survive. “They look like they’re going to pull through,” he said. “But it’s a lot of people—far too many.”

As of now, no arrests have been made, and investigators have yet to determine a motive for the shooting. Authorities continue to interview witnesses and review surveillance footage in hopes of identifying those responsible.

This latest incident marks the most significant shooting in Philadelphia since Memorial Day, when gunfire erupted during a crowded celebration in Fairmount Park. In that tragic case, 11 people were shot, including 23-year-old Amya Devlin and 21-year-old Mikhail Bowers, who were both killed.

Among the injured during the May shooting were three teenagers aged 15, 16, and 17. Police said at least five different firearms were used during that exchange, further highlighting the rising concern over gun violence in the city.

The Philadelphia Police Department is urging anyone with information related to either shooting to come forward, as communities continue to reel from a summer marked by repeated outbreaks of violence.
