Eyewitnesses at the scene recounted a frightening and sudden turn of events as four men, caught in an unexpected downpour, sought refuge beneath a large tree in an open field. Moments later, a powerful bolt of lightning struck the very tree they were standing under, sending shockwaves through the area and briefly knocking two of the men to the ground.
According to onlookers, the rain had started only minutes earlier, and the men appeared to have taken shelter without much thought, seemingly unaware of the growing risk of electrical storms in the area.
The lightning strike was described as deafening, accompanied by a blinding flash of light and a loud crack that echoed for several seconds. Passersby and nearby residents rushed to the scene, fearing the worst.
“It was terrifying,” one witness said. “There was this huge flash and a boom that shook the ground. We ran over thinking they might have been killed.”
