Sometimes, a $2 investment yields a priceless return.
Alexis Nebeling recently went viral on TikTok for her relatable solution to a universal parenting hurdle: picture day drama. While 4-year-old Emma usually loves the spotlight, she hit a wall this year, refusing to pose or even have her hair done.
The Negotiator
Facing a potential school photo disaster, Alexis skipped the lectures and went straight to the “incentive” program. She offered Emma two dollars to cooperate with the photographer.
The viral footage captures the hilarious reality of the deal:
-
The Struggle: Emma is seen standing in the bathroom, tears streaming down her face, while white-knuckling her $2 payout.
-
The Success: The very next slide reveals the school portraits—a series of perfectly timed, adorable smiles.
“She Accepted”
“I offered her $2 if she smiled for the photographer, and she accepted it while she had tears streaming down her face,” Alexis.
Despite the initial bathroom breakdown, the bribe worked like a charm, proving that when it comes to toddlers and school traditions, a little pocket change goes a long way.

This wasn’t Alexis’s first time at the negotiation table, either.
“In the past, I have had to bribe her for our family photo shoots, which always seem to work out in my favor,” she admitted with a laugh.

The drama was a departure from last year, when Emma was more than happy to strike a pose. “Last year’s pictures came out so cute,” Alexis recalled. “She is so sassy and typically loves the camera.”
Ultimately, the mom of two describes Emma as “so much fun”—the perfect blend of a funny, sassy personality and a sweet, loving heart.

“We call her our little ‘flight risk’ because she is always on the move and keeping us on our toes,” Alexis added, noting that Emma loves being silly and making the family laugh.
Deciding the moment was “too cute not to record,” Alexis captured the exchange for TikTok, confident her daughter will one day look back and appreciate the memory.
Commenters were quick to side with the “paid professional,” with one user suggesting, “You better round that up to a solid $5! She nailed it!” Another chimed in to challenge the old adage, asking, “Money can’t buy happiness? Who says?”
