Freaked-Out Trump Pleads for End to MAGA’s Epstein Civil War

President Donald Trump issued a fiery and defensive post on Truth Social Saturday, pushing back against growing dissent within his own administration and MAGA base over the handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files. In the lengthy tirade, Trump fiercely defended Attorney General Pam Bondi, dismissed ongoing demands for Epstein-related disclosures, and lashed out at critics inside and outside his inner circle.

“What’s going on with my ‘boys’ and, in some cases, ‘gals’?” Trump wrote. “They’re all going after Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is doing a FANTASTIC JOB! We’re on one Team, MAGA, and I don’t like what’s happening… All this over a guy who never dies, Jeffrey Epstein.”

A Deepening Rift Within MAGA
Trump’s post follows a week of escalating backlash from supporters furious over a Department of Justice and FBI memo stating that Epstein left behind no “client list” and died by suicide—findings that clash with long-standing theories popular within the MAGA movement.

Bondi, who had previously claimed the Epstein files were “on her desk,” has become the focal point of criticism from MAGA loyalists, many of whom accuse her of fueling expectations only to deliver nothing. Tensions have spilled into public view, with FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino openly clashing with Bondi and reportedly considering resignation after skipping work on Friday.

Adding fuel to the fire, Elon Musk joined the chorus demanding transparency, tweeting: “Just release the files as promised. This is a very big deal.”

Trump, however, insisted the blame lies with past administrations and the so-called deep state.

“Why are we giving publicity to files written by Obama, Crooked Hillary, Comey, Brennan, and the Losers and Criminals of the Biden Administration?” Trump wrote. “They created the Epstein Files, just like they created the FAKE Hillary Clinton/Christopher Steele Dossier… Now my so-called ‘friends’ are playing right into their hands.”

He went on to argue that if anything damaging to MAGA were buried in the Epstein records, “they would have used it already.”

Defending Bondi and Patel, Calling Off the Infighting
Trump also threw his support behind FBI Director Kash Patel, who, like Bongino, once trafficked in Epstein conspiracy theories but has since backed off. Patel, who’s been rumored to be maneuvering for Bondi’s ouster, denied those reports Saturday, calling them “conspiracy theories that just aren’t true.”

Trump, meanwhile, told his base to stop the infighting:
“LET PAM BONDI DO HER JOB — SHE’S GREAT!” he wrote. “The 2020 Election was Rigged and Stolen, and they tried to do the same thing in 2024 — That’s what she is looking into as AG, and much more. Let’s not waste Time and Energy on Jeffrey Epstein, somebody that nobody cares about.”

He insisted the administration has achieved more “in six months than any other administration in 100 years,” and said focusing on Epstein only benefits the Left.

Fallout From Broken Promises
Trump’s push to bury the issue is being seen by many of his own supporters as a betrayal. During his campaign, Trump had promised to fully release the Epstein files—a vow that fueled enthusiasm among those convinced powerful elites were being protected. The DOJ’s memo and Trump’s defense of Bondi have triggered a flood of disillusionment.

Podcaster Andrew Schulz condemned Trump’s about-face, telling followers, “I voted for none of this.” Influencers and far-right activists have begun openly accusing the administration of a cover-up. Some have even posted videos burning their MAGA hats in protest.

At Turning Point USA’s student summit, young conservatives expressed disappointment to Fox News. “This is not a good look for the president at all,” one attendee said.

Even figures like Nick Fuentes—a white nationalist influencer once aligned with Trump—mocked the president’s pivot. “So now Trump is claiming the Epstein files are a Democrat hoax? Lol. MAGA is dead,” he wrote on X.

“It’s Not Going Away”
Despite Trump’s attempts to change the subject, political analysts warn the issue will continue to dog his campaign.

Former White House communications director Alyssa Farah Griffin told CNN, “This is the first time I can really remember that Trump is sidestepping his base and not doing what they’re very vocally asking him to do.”

“If Donald Trump wants the Epstein files released, he can make that happen,” she added. “The fact he isn’t raises real questions. And this is not something that will quietly fade away.”

Conclusion
Trump may have hoped to quell the controversy with a single Truth Social post, but instead, he may have triggered a full-blown MAGA mutiny. With his base splintering and longtime loyalists now questioning his leadership, the Epstein saga is becoming a political headache the president cannot afford to ignore.
