Rep. Cory Mills (R-Fla.) is at risk of being evicted from his Washington, D.C., apartment after the property’s management company filed a lawsuit alleging he owes more than $85,000 in unpaid rent, according to court documents.

Bozzuto Management Company, which oversees the building where Mills resides, claimed the congressman has not paid rent since March 2025. The total outstanding balance from March through July amounts to $85,009.80, with the monthly rent listed as $20,833, according to a report by independent journalist Roger Sollenberger, who first obtained the complaint filed in D.C. Superior Court.
The company said it issued Mills a formal nonpayment of rent notice on Jan. 22, demanding payment of $17,361 by Feb. 26. Despite the notice and a follow-up warning of intent to file suit, Bozzuto says the rent remains unpaid. A resident ledger also suggests that Mills has consistently failed to make timely payments.
Mills’ office did not respond to HuffPost’s request for comment. However, the congressman pushed back on the report via X (formerly Twitter), where he attacked Sollenberger’s credibility and insisted the issue stems from problems with the management’s online rent payment system.
In his posts, Mills shared screenshots of two emails — dated June 17 and July 3 — which he claimed show him requesting updated payment links from Bozzuto.
“Here’s just the past two months where you can see I’m repeatedly asking for payment links, and again, as I tried with management today, it failed to process,” Mills wrote.
The lawsuit comes as Mills is also facing scrutiny over a separate incident. He was reportedly under investigation following allegations that he assaulted a 27-year-old woman, who was not his wife, at a Washington apartment on Feb. 19. Mills has denied any wrongdoing.
