An attempted armed robbery at a Family Dollar store took a dramatic turn when a legally armed citizen intervened and opened fire on the suspect, 18-year-old Adric White.
The incident occurred when White entered the store and brandished a handgun, threatening the cashier and demanding cash.
Acting aggressively, White held the employees at gunpoint, giving orders and attempting to dominate the situation. However, the scenario quickly changed when a bystander—legally carrying a concealed firearm—intervened.
According to authorities, the Good Samaritan drew his weapon, pointed it at White, and ordered him not to move. Instead of complying, White reportedly turned toward the armed citizen.
Feeling threatened, the bystander fired five shots, incapacitating the young man. The store employees then managed to restrain White and disarm him.
White survived the shooting and was treated for multiple gunshot wounds at a nearby hospital. He has since been charged with armed robbery. However, the situation sparked controversy when White’s family expressed outrage that the Good Samaritan had not been arrested.
