Kevin and Wendy Wilson have always believed in facing life’s hardships hand in hand — a love story grounded in shared burdens and unwavering devotion. For 21 years, the Millbrook, Alabama couple has walked life’s rocky roads together, married for 18 of those years and raising four children. But now, the road has taken an unimaginably painful turn — both are battling terminal cancer at the same time.
Wendy, a resilient wife and mother, has been no stranger to cancer. Since her first diagnosis in 2004, she has bravely endured ovarian, cervical, and breast cancer, undergoing a double mastectomy in 2017. She thought the worst was behind her — until recently, when doctors confirmed that her breast cancer had returned. And this time, it had spread. Stage 4.
If that news wasn’t heavy enough, just one week before Wendy’s diagnosis, Kevin received life-altering news of his own: he, too, had stage 4 cancer — prostate cancer that had advanced aggressively.
“He was told that he has stage 4 prostate cancer, and then, within a week later, I was told that my breast cancer had come back for a second time,” Wendy told NBC affiliate WSFA in a heartfelt interview. “Mine is stage 4, too, because it has spread to other areas of my body.”
