Poll: Americans think Iran poses a real threat to US security, but split on Israel’s strikes

As tensions in the Middle East erupt into open confrontation, a new poll reveals a nation increasingly concerned about Iran’s threat to U.S. security—yet still deeply conflicted over Israel’s military actions and Washington’s role in the region.

According to the latest Fox News survey, 73% of registered voters now view Iran as a real national security threat, marking a notable 13-point surge since the question was last posed in 2019. The uptick comes at a moment of intense global scrutiny, as images of Iranian missiles raining down on Tel Aviv have dominated screens and social feeds.

“The increased sense that Iran constitutes a threat is real,” said Daron Shaw, the Republican pollster behind the Fox News Poll. “But it also reflects the unique timing and circumstances surrounding this poll. The immediacy and clarity of the conflict undoubtedly contribute to how voters gauge what is at risk.”

The data shows rare bipartisan agreement: large majorities of Democrats (69%), Republicans (82%), and Independents (62%) agree that Iran presents a real and growing danger to the U.S.—each up significantly from six years ago.
