An Ohio man accused of fatally stabbing a woman he called his “soulmate” is now facing murder charges after authorities say he tried to frame another man by sharing a video of the victim’s lifeless body from a fake social media account.
According to court documents obtained Friday, 34-year-old Nigel Thomas sent the video of Wilma Robertson’s body via Facebook with Chris Brown’s “Stutter” playing in the background. The message, and others, were designed to frame Shawn Bailey — Robertson’s ex — for the crime.
Bailey, 33, was arrested on April 15 and held for 10 days before being cleared. Investigators later confirmed his alibi and traced the fake Facebook messages to an IP address in Oxford, Ohio — where Thomas lived.
Robertson’s body was found April 14 in her Indiana home, with two stab wounds in her back. Her cousin, Kimberly Danner, said Thomas and Robertson once had a toxic relationship after meeting a few years ago. He even wrote a song about her, “A Girl Named Wilma.”
Thomas allegedly posted multiple Facebook messages mourning Robertson and declaring war on her behalf, even tagging her relatives.
DNA on a bloody knife at the scene excluded Bailey and pointed to Thomas. He was arrested April 25, the same day Bailey was released.
“He has no remorse,” Danner said. “It’s super insulting. At her funeral, it didn’t feel like she was at peace. I think it’s because they had arrested the wrong person.”
