For those who still cling to the idea that Kamala Harris might have rescued her image with a down-to-earth, unfiltered podcast appearance — à la every Joe Rogan guest ever — let’s hit pause and talk about Kareem Rahma.
If the name doesn’t ring a bell, Rahma is a viral content creator known for his irreverent series “Subway Takes,” where he ambushes random New Yorkers on the subway with hot-button prompts like: “Should every country have a nuke?”, “Replace the bald eagle with a seagull?”, or “White people need to stop calling out autism in public.”
This isn’t exactly Face the Nation, which made it an oddly fitting venue for a vice president trying to seem relatable. But Kamala blew it anyway — and so badly that not even TikTok could polish it.
According to a Forbes interview with Rahma that only recently went viral, the Democratic National Committee had reached out directly: “Hey, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are interested in being on your show.” Rahma agreed, thinking it might be cool to meet a (potential) future president.
That illusion didn’t last long.
When asked why the footage never aired, Rahma didn’t hold back:
“Her take was really confusing and weird and not good. We mutually agreed not to publish it.”
He added, “I didn’t want to get blamed for her losing.”
So, what was the topic that tripped up the Vice President of the United States?
Brace yourself: “Bacon as a spice.”
Yes, that’s right. Kamala Harris couldn’t give a coherent answer to the question of whether bacon qualifies as a spice. Anyone who’s ever eaten loaded potato skins, a bacon-topped salad, or even just existed in America knows that answer is: of course. But Kamala? Not so much.
Rahma said even after trying to re-edit the footage multiple times, nothing could be salvaged without making her look utterly clueless. And he wasn’t exaggerating. According to him, “It didn’t make any sense.”
You might think — okay, it’s a silly question. But that’s the point. It was low-stakes, pure fluff. If Kamala can’t handle a question about bacon on a meme-show, how exactly was she going to handle the nuclear codes?
It gets worse. This isn’t her only podcast flub. While she managed to stumble her way through a full episode of Call Her Daddy — a podcast known for risqué topics, not public policy — her complete malfunction in Subway Takes is telling. No teleprompter. No spin team to rescue her mid-sentence. Just a normal human question… and a VP short-circuiting in real time.
The DNC might’ve wanted to humanize her. Instead, they served up a moment so cringeworthy it couldn’t even pass Rahma’s casual vibe check.
And here’s the terrifying part: this woman was a heartbeat away from the presidency. Joe Biden may be aging, but at least he knows how to sell a line about bacon with some conviction. Kamala? She couldn’t even pass a pop quiz on America’s favorite pork product.
Forget “Rogan redemption.” After this, any microphone not scripted to the syllable should be considered a national security risk for Harris.
So let’s all breathe a sigh of relief. The bacon take that never aired may have spared us from something even worse: a presidential run that nobody — not even a subway full of strangers — could stomach.
