Trump’s Epstein Plea Sets Embarrassing Truth Social Record

President Donald Trump hit a digital low point this weekend after being massively ratioed on his own social media platform, Truth Social—a rare and telling sign of backlash even from his most loyal supporters.

For the uninitiated, getting ratioed means a post receives significantly more comments than likes or shares, often signaling widespread disapproval, criticism, or outright mockery. It’s typically something that happens to political opponents or celebrities, not to Trump himself—and certainly not on his own platform.

But that’s exactly what happened Saturday, after Trump rushed to defend Attorney General Pam Bondi, who’s facing growing outrage from MAGA loyalists over the handling of the much-hyped “Epstein files.” Despite the platform being an echo chamber for Trump supporters, the post sparked an avalanche of furious replies.

“What’s going on with my ‘boys’ and, in some cases, ‘gals?’” Trump wrote. “They’re all going after Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is doing a FANTASTIC JOB. One year ago our Country was DEAD, now it’s the ‘HOTTEST’ Country anywhere in the World. Let’s keep it that way, and not waste Time and Energy on Jeffrey Epstein, somebody that nobody cares about.”

The post immediately backfired.

As of Monday, the post had amassed nearly 45,000 comments, compared to just 12,900 “reTruths” (shares) and around 40,000 likes—a ratio that, according to Newsweek, marks the first time Trump has experienced such a dramatic backlash on Truth Social.

The anger centers on Bondi’s failure to deliver on promises. Back in February, she claimed that Epstein’s so-called “client list” was “sitting on my desk right now to review.” But last week, the Department of Justice and FBI issued findings that Epstein died by suicide in 2019, and no such list exists—directly contradicting the narrative Trump’s base has believed for years.

The reaction was swift and unforgiving:

“You promised us, Sir. Putting your MAGA base down is not going to make this go away,” one user fumed. “Pam Bondi has LIED to us time and time again. Who is advising you?”

“This is NOT going away and will leave a stain on your presidency,” another added. “This is unbelievably disappointing and will make many people believe you or some people close to you are involved.”

This level of dissent is unprecedented on Truth Social, where Trump’s posts typically garner hundreds of adoring comments, memes, and blind support. Even his controversial rants about Elon Musk didn’t trigger this level of revolt—his post blasting Musk over an EV mandate, for example, drew just 11,000 comments and about 8,300 shares.

For Trump, who thrives on loyalty and message control, the blowback represents more than just a bad post. It’s a crack in the MAGA armor—one that raises uncomfortable questions about whether the Epstein scandal could splinter his base ahead of a crucial election season.
