Trump dismisses Gabbard’s nuke claim! WH insists he’s aligned with intel chief

Despite Trump’s dismissive tone, the White House later said the president and Gabbard are “closely aligned” on Iran. A senior administration official told Fox News Digital that the distinction between Gabbard’s testimony and Trump’s current stance is “a difference without a distinction,” adding that both agree Iran has the capability to rapidly transition to weaponization if it chooses to do so.

Israeli Strikes Trigger Escalation
On June 12, Israel launched a coordinated offensive—dubbed Operation Rising Lion—targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, including facilities suspected of weapons development. The strikes came after months of stalled negotiations and new intelligence suggesting Iran’s enrichment activities had reached critical thresholds.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu justified the action, declaring, “If we hadn’t acted now, Iran would have crossed the nuclear threshold within weeks.” Israeli air defenses were subsequently activated in cities like Tel Aviv and Haifa following retaliatory missile launches from Iran.

U.S. Central Command General Michael Kurilla echoed Israeli concerns earlier this month, warning that Iran had amassed enough 60% enriched uranium to produce weapons-grade material “within one week,” and possibly enough for up to ten nuclear devices within three weeks.

Intelligence Community in Sync
A U.S. intelligence official working with Gabbard confirmed that American and Israeli intelligence services are in agreement about Iran’s enrichment capabilities. “Everyone is saying the same thing,” the official said, referencing IAEA findings that Tehran’s stockpiles now exceed limits typically associated with civilian use.

Despite the convergence in intelligence assessments, Gabbard was noticeably absent from a high-level security summit held at Camp David earlier in June. The meeting, called by Trump, included Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Gabbard was reportedly unavailable due to National Guard mobilization in California amid protests sparked by immigration enforcement operations.

Trump’s Warning to Iran
As Iran launched retaliatory missile attacks on Israeli cities, Trump issued a stern warning via Truth Social: “Iran should have signed the deal I told them to sign. What a shame, and a waste of human life. Simply stated—IRAN CANNOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON.”

In a follow-up post, the president declared the U.S. had established “complete and total control of the skies over Iran” and claimed intelligence agencies had pinpointed the location of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

“We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding,” Trump wrote. “He is an easy target, but is safe there—for now. But we don’t want missiles shot at civilians or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin.”

The Stakes Rise
Iran has since characterized Israel’s strikes as a “declaration of war,” vowing further retaliation. U.S. officials say efforts to bring Tehran back to the negotiating table have collapsed, with planned talks in Oman abruptly canceled by Iran.

The White House remains firm in its position that Iran must never possess a nuclear weapon—a red line that Trump has emphasized repeatedly since taking office.

As the region teeters on the brink of wider war, one thing is clear: the Iran nuclear issue, long simmering beneath the surface, has once again exploded onto the global stage—with the U.S. playing both peacemaker and enforcer.
