Trump Admin Broke Rules about Ghislaine Maxwell

According to NBC News, such a transfer is normally prohibited for convicted sex offenders, who are required to be housed at at least low-security prisons. In Maxwell’s case, the BOP waived this rule, granting her a special exemption. MSNBC’s Ken Dilanian noted that a federal prison consultant told him he had “never seen this done before for a sex offender.”

The transfer came just days after Maxwell reportedly spent two days meeting with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, allegedly discussing her knowledge of Epstein’s operations and connections. Her sudden cooperation with federal officials — and the fact that it became public — may have put her in serious danger behind bars.

The Daily Mail reports that other inmates at Tallahassee branded Maxwell a “snitch” after learning of her talks with the Justice Department. Sources say she faced “very real and credible threats” to her life, particularly from prisoners linked to blackmail and extortion schemes she had previously reported.

Conditions at FCI Tallahassee have long been troubling. In recent years, multiple guards have been convicted of sexually assaulting inmates, and whistleblowers have described an environment of rampant corruption. Cameras have allegedly gone “missing,” guards have been accused of falling asleep during shifts, and oversight is notoriously lax.

By contrast, Bryan Prison Camp is described by insiders as “a professionally run facility with a great warden, working cameras everywhere, and properly trained staff.” Inmates there are considered less violent, and the prison already houses high-profile offenders such as Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes and Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jen Shah.

For Epstein’s victims, the move is nothing short of infuriating. Families say the transfer “smacks of favoritism and a cover-up,” allowing Maxwell to live out her sentence in relative comfort while still fighting to overturn her conviction.

Maxwell’s legal team is currently appealing her December 2021 conviction for grooming young girls for Epstein’s abuse. Her lawyers argue she is shielded from prosecution under a 2007 plea deal Epstein made with federal prosecutors in Florida, which included protections for unnamed co-conspirators — an agreement they claim also applies to her.

Meanwhile, sources close to Maxwell say she has been seeking a presidential pardon from President Donald Trump, who has not ruled it out despite mounting speculation over his own past connections to Epstein.
