During Friday’s Fox Business broadcast, anchor David Asman and contributor Gerry Baker discussed recent comments made by a prominent CEO.
“It reminds me of what Churchill once said: ‘If you’re not a socialist when you’re young, you have no heart. If you’re not a conservative when you’re older, you have no brain,’” Asman remarked. “Honestly, I’d rename red tape to blue tape — it’s the Democrats who constantly push for more regulations.”
The CEO emphasized the need for smart governance: “We need solid regulations—just not endless layers of them. Whether it’s food safety or financial oversight, efficiency should be the goal. Democrats and Republicans alike should want a government that works.”
Meanwhile, the Democratic Party continues to shift leftward.
In New York City, Democratic socialists aligned with Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani are reportedly preparing primary challenges against several high-profile Democrats, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.
Mamdani, a 33-year-old democratic socialist from Queens, made national headlines after decisively defeating former Gov. Andrew Cuomo and nine others in the city’s Democratic mayoral primary—a win that could make him NYC’s first Muslim mayor. His campaign’s success is seen as a milestone for the party’s growing progressive wing.
This isn’t JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon’s first critique of his own party. Recently, he blasted California’s progressive leadership after visiting a Chase branch destroyed in the Palisades fire.
Gustavo Gordillo, co-chair of New York City’s Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), told CNN: “Jeffries’ leadership has left a vacuum that groups like the DSA are stepping in to fill.”
State Sen. Jabari Brisport, who shares a Brooklyn constituency with Jeffries, also criticized the congressman, saying he’s becoming increasingly disconnected from the district’s progressive base.
Responding to the rising pressure from the left, Democratic strategist Andre Richardson, a senior advisor to Jeffries, emphasized the House Minority Leader’s broader focus: “Hakeem Jeffries is committed to winning back the House from MAGA extremists who just took health care away from millions.”
Following Mamdani’s victory, the DSA released a statement: “This movement is bigger than one election. We encourage everyone inspired by Zohran’s campaign to join their local DSA or YDSA chapter and fight for the future we all deserve.”
DSA leaders are now reportedly considering targeting other prominent New York Democrats in upcoming primaries, including Reps. Ritchie Torres, Jerry Nadler, Dan Goldman, and Yvette Clarke.
Jeffries, who succeeded Nancy Pelosi as House Democratic leader two years ago, is increasingly viewed by far-left voices as too moderate and aligned with the party establishment.
