Texas Pediatrician Quickly Pays the Price for Sickening Comment About Flood Victims

A pediatrician in Houston, Texas, has been fired after a controversial Facebook post in which she appeared to mock MAGA voters affected by the deadly flash floods in Kerr County, implying they “got what they deserved” for denying climate change.

Dr. Christina B. Propst, formerly of Blue Fish Pediatrics, made the remarks in a since-deleted Facebook post that quickly went viral after being captured and shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). In her post, Propst wrote:

“May all visitors, children, non-MAGA voters and pets be safe and dry. Kerr County MAGA voted to gut FEMA. They deny climate change. May they get what they voted for. Bless their hearts.”

The post sparked immediate backlash online. One X user, Dr. Lynn Fynn-derella, shared the screenshot with the caption:

“This is the sort of pediatric clinician employed at @BlueFishMD in Houston. The ethics, humanity and empathy illustrated here is unfathomable.”

Her post received over 4.4 million views, prompting a swift response from Blue Fish Pediatrics.

Employer Responds and Terminates Employment
Initially, Blue Fish Pediatrics issued a statement expressing condolences for the flood victims and distancing the clinic from Propst’s remarks:

“The content and timing of that post do not reflect the values, standards, or mission of Blue Fish Pediatrics,” the statement read. “We do not support or condone any statement that politicizes tragedy, diminishes human dignity, or fails to clearly uphold compassion for every child and family, regardless of backgrounds or beliefs.”

They went on to emphasize the importance of compassion and unity during times of crisis:

“In moments of crisis, we believe in unity over division, healing over judgment, and humility over rhetoric.”

Initially placing Propst on administrative leave, the clinic later confirmed that she had been terminated from her position.

“The individual is no longer employed here,” the practice said in an updated statement shared by The New York Post.

Widening Political Divide
Propst’s remarks have ignited a broader conversation about politicizing tragedy and the growing trend of hostility toward conservatives, particularly Trump supporters. While her post may have been the most high-profile example, she wasn’t alone in making political points amid the disaster.

High-profile Democrats, including Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX) and Gov. Jay Inslee (D-WA), quickly tied the flood to climate change, further inflaming the debate.

Critics argue that the tone of Propst’s post reflects a dangerous pattern of dehumanization, where individuals with differing political views are no longer treated with basic empathy—even in times of suffering.

“There’s a growing trend where some believe it’s acceptable—even justified—to mock or abandon people based on how they vote,” one commentator said. “That should alarm everyone, regardless of party affiliation.”

Rising Rhetoric from the Far Left
This incident also fits within a broader pattern noted by Axios, which recently reported that some House Democrats are growing uneasy with the radical rhetoric they’re hearing from within their own base.

“Some of [our supporters] have suggested what we really need to do is be willing to get shot,” one Democratic lawmaker told Axios, referring to acts of protest at ICE facilities and federal buildings.

Another lawmaker said constituents have told them “civility isn’t working” and that they should prepare for violence in the name of “protecting democracy.”

The metaphor used by critics to describe the situation is that of a backdraft: a confined blaze fed by years of political oxygen deprivation, suddenly erupting into chaos the moment it’s exposed to new fuel. The fear is that in dehumanizing those with different political beliefs, the left may have created a volatile situation—one they no longer control.

The Bottom Line
The firing of Dr. Propst may have closed one chapter in the growing cultural rift, but it underscores a much deeper issue—the erosion of compassion in the face of political disagreement. When tragedy becomes an opportunity to mock, and politics eclipse humanity, everyone loses. And as America stands more divided than ever, this incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of treating fellow citizens as enemies based on ideology alone.
