Teen mom who chose son’s birth over cancer treatment dies

Life can be breathtakingly beautiful — but also unbearably cruel. That duality is what makes each of our journeys so unpredictable… and so deeply human. At just 18 years old, Brianna Rawlings had every reason to feel hopeful. She was 17 weeks pregnant and dreaming of becoming a mother. But those dreams were shattered when doctors gave her a devastating diagnosis: an extremely rare and aggressive cancer known as NK cell leukemia.

In a heartbreaking twist, Brianna’s symptoms had long been dismissed by doctors as typical pregnancy-related discomforts. By the time her leukemia was discovered, she was faced with a harrowing decision — begin immediate treatment and end her pregnancy, or delay the lifesaving therapy in hopes of bringing her baby boy into the world.
