“R. Kelly Clings to Life in Prison? Shocking Death Plot Allegations, Secret Hospitalization, and a Plea to President Trump”

Disgraced R&B artist R. Kelly will remain behind bars for now, after a federal judge rejected his emergency motion for a temporary release from prison. But according to his attorney, Beau B. Brindley, the fight is far from over.

Brindley tells PEOPLE that he intends to file a new motion seeking the immediate release of his client, despite Judge Martha Pacold’s decision to dismiss the initial request, citing a lack of jurisdiction. The rejected motion was filed in the Northern District of Illinois, where Kelly was convicted, but it focused on alleged threats and incidents occurring in Arizona and North Carolina — where Kelly is currently being held at the Federal Correctional Complex in Butner, N.C.

“We are not surprised by this ruling, as we anticipated jurisdictional hurdles,” Brindley said. “But we had no other choice. The evidence of a serious threat to Mr. Kelly’s life was too urgent to ignore.”

Brindley said his concern for Kelly’s health intensified after an emergency visit to the prison on June 18, where he claims the singer is suffering from untreated blood clots in his lungs — a condition that could prove fatal without prompt surgical intervention.
