A Coup in Plain Sight? Gabbard Says Yes
“They knew there was no real threat — but they peddled the lie anyway to justify spying on Trump, leaking to the media, and launching fake investigations,” said Gabbard. “It was a deliberate attempt to subvert democracy.”
Gabbard’s documents include internal memos from James Clapper, Obama’s Director of National Intelligence, and other senior officials who privately questioned how aggressive their language should be regarding Russia’s intentions — at the same time the media narrative was escalating into full-blown hysteria.
In one September 2, 2016 document, an official asks for softened language, saying:
“We are uncomfortable making the assessment that Russia intends to disrupt our elections.”
Obama Team Allegedly Leaked False Intel to Media
According to Gabbard, Obama-era officials intentionally fed misleading claims to the press, citing a key example where intel was leaked to the Washington Post, falsely stating that “Russia has attempted through cyber means to interfere in, if not actively influence, the outcome of an election.”
She claims this was a deliberate manipulation of intelligence to stir public panic and build a case for investigating Trump — even as their own findings contradicted that narrative.
New Evidence: The Intelligence Switch-Up Post-Election
Despite earlier memos downplaying Russia’s capability, the January 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment claimed Vladimir Putin had ordered an influence campaign aimed at boosting Trump.
“It directly contradicted the intelligence gathered for the prior six months,” Gabbard said. “That’s not just a change in language — that’s a cover-up.”
A December draft brief even warned that “foreign adversaries will likely weigh the risk” of being caught before meddling, and that new voting tech could increase future vulnerabilities — but made no concrete claim of active election tampering in 2016.
Criminal Referrals Incoming: DOJ Now in Possession
Gabbard announced she is formally turning over the documents to the Department of Justice for criminal referral — a move that could trigger investigations into some of the most powerful names in American politics.
“No matter how high they sit, no one is above the law,” she said.
Trump’s Revenge Tour: Second Term Strikes Back
This move fits into a larger push by Trump in his second term to expose and punish those he claims worked to undermine him. Already, former FBI Director James Comey is under investigation by the DOJ.
In a stunning coincidence, Comey’s own daughter Maurene, who prosecuted Jeffrey Epstein and Diddy, was fired by the DOJ just yesterday — raising even more speculation about the future direction of Trump’s justice agenda.
Why It Matters: The Legacy of the ‘Russia Hoax’
Gabbard, who famously left the Democratic Party and endorsed Trump, says this release isn’t about revenge — it’s about restoring faith in American democracy.
“This wasn’t just dirty politics. It was an intelligence operation against a sitting president,” she said. “It must never happen again.”
With the full Epstein files still locked, January 6 investigations flaring, and deep divisions growing in both parties, the war for transparency in Washington is just beginning — and Trump’s team is going all in.
