Missiles Rain Down, Israel Strikes Deep Inside Iran as Full-Scale War Looms in the Middle East

Israel Strikes Central Iran
In an unprecedented escalation, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced it had carried out airstrikes on surface-to-surface missile sites located in central Iran. The IDF posted an alert on X (formerly Twitter), stating:
“The Air Force is currently attacking surface-to-surface missile sites in central Iran.”

These strikes followed a “wide alert” issued earlier in the day to Israeli civilians, warning them to remain close to protected shelters amid intelligence suggesting an incoming missile attack from Iranian territory.

Missile and Drone Attacks Intensify
Iranian state media later confirmed that Tehran, in coordination with allied forces in Yemen, had launched another barrage of missiles toward Israel late Sunday. The Mehr News Agency reported that this new wave of joint missile fire was aimed at what it called “occupied territories.”

Prior to these developments, the Israeli Air Force and Navy had successfully intercepted over 100 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Iran in what has become an ongoing aerial battle. According to the IDF, none of the Iranian drones reached Israeli territory.

IDF Targets Iranian Weapons Infrastructure
Earlier Sunday, the IDF also confirmed that it had completed a “wide-scale wave of strikes” on Iranian military infrastructure, targeting weapons production facilities linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and its elite Quds Force.

Satellite imagery and military reports show that the targets included:

Facilities for producing fuel for various missile systems.

A production site manufacturing components for aerial defense systems operated by the IRGC.

The strikes mark a significant Israeli escalation aimed at degrading Iran’s weapons manufacturing and launch capabilities.

Civilian Casualties Reported in Israel
The conflict has already taken a toll on civilians. Emergency crews responded to a missile strike in northern Israel on Sunday, treating eight individuals for physical injuries. One elderly woman, around 72 years old, was hospitalized in moderate condition due to smoke inhalation. Seven others sustained mild injuries, while nine additional people were treated for anxiety following the attack.

Former Government Spokesman: “This Is a New Phase of Warfare”
In an appearance on Fox & Friends Weekend, former Israeli government spokesperson Eylon Levy shed light on what he called a “sinister shift” in Iran’s tactics.

“For the first time, Iran launched ballistic missiles during daylight hours, catching many off guard who expected attacks to begin in the evening,” said Levy. “The regime is targeting civilian areas deliberately, hoping to overwhelm Israel’s missile defenses.”

Levy warned that this strategy signals a deepening threat to civilian life, with Iran firing dozens of missiles simultaneously to exploit vulnerabilities in Israel’s layered defense systems.

He added that the core of the conflict is ideological and existential:
“Israel wants to exist, and the Iranian regime doesn’t want us to exist.”
According to Levy, Israel’s ongoing military campaign is intended to neutralize what it sees as a dual threat — Iran’s nuclear ambitions and its ever-growing arsenal of ballistic missiles.

Conclusion: A Region on the Brink
With airstrikes on Iranian soil, waves of incoming missiles, and mounting civilian injuries, the conflict between Israel and Iran has entered a new and more volatile phase. The international community watches with concern as the potential for broader regional destabilization grows by the hour.
