A Florida man who claimed he discovered his father-in-law’s lifeless body has now been indicted for the man’s murder—an alleged crime authorities say occurred days before the body was ever reported.
On April 13, the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office arrested 43-year-old David Nemyier in connection with the April 9 shooting death of 67-year-old Kyle Pazian, his father-in-law. This week, a grand jury indicted Nemyier on first-degree premeditated murder charges, culminating an investigation marked by conflicting statements, disturbing allegations, and a hidden timeline of violence.
According to the arrest affidavit obtained by Law&Crime, Nemyier initially told deputies that he and his wife—Pazian’s daughter—had gone to check on Pazian at his home on April 11 after they couldn’t reach him. There, they found him dead on the couch with blood on his face. Nemyier claimed he had just arrived.
But that story quickly unraveled.
Authorities learned that Nemyier, his wife, and their son had all been living with Pazian at the time. On April 9—the day Pazian was later determined to have died—Nemyier was at work, and his wife and son were at home. Police flagged “numerous discrepancies” in the couple’s accounts of that day.
In a bizarre twist, Nemyier tried to deflect attention by telling police Pazian had ongoing issues with a Black drug dealer named “Mike,” to whom he allegedly owed money.
His wife also gave a disjointed version of events, saying she had a “knot” on her head that appeared while her husband was away, and when she asked her father about it, he “got frustrated.” She left soon after to visit Nemyier at work. Security footage from the restaurant where Nemyier worked showed him changing his shirt in the parking lot on April 9. A coworker later found a bullet in that same area and showed it to another employee.
The autopsy shattered Nemyier’s timeline, placing Pazian’s death on April 9—two full days before his body was “discovered.” The cause of death: a gunshot wound to the head. Manner: homicide.
On April 13, Nemyier’s wife contacted police, visibly distressed and ready to come clean. Both she and her son were described as “distraught,” with the boy reportedly vomiting at the station.
She told investigators that she had been intoxicated the morning of April 9 after drinking vodka and had argued with her father. Later, when Nemyier noticed the injury on her head, he asked whether Pazian had caused it. When she said she didn’t know, he allegedly replied, “Nobody is going to hurt my wife.”
She said Nemyier drove them back to the house, parked, and entered alone. When he returned, she asked if her father was okay. His chilling reply: “He’s dead.”
The wife also revealed a long history of domestic violence in their relationship and admitted she was afraid of him. She claimed that same morning, Nemyier had been high on crack cocaine and had held a small black gun to her head.
Police later found Nemyier at a hotel where his wife and son were staying. He was arrested and has been held without bond ever since.
Now officially indicted, Nemyier faces first-degree murder charges in what prosecutors describe as a premeditated killing—one hidden behind a carefully staged discovery and a web of misleading stories.
