Lizzo reveals secret to her slimdown — and finally sets the record straight on Ozempic use

“Ozempic works because it suppresses your appetite — it helps you feel full. But if you can train your mind to eat intentionally and nourish your body, the result is pretty much the same,” she explained. “It really comes down to mindset.”

One major shift in her routine? Ditching the vegan diet that had once defined her wellness image.

“When I was vegan, I was eating tons of fake meats, bread, and rice — and I needed a lot of it to feel satisfied,” she said. “But when I switched to whole foods and started eating beef, chicken, and fish, I felt full without having to overeat. I wasn’t just stuffing my stomach with processed stuff that didn’t keep me nourished.”

Despite her personal decision to move away from Ozempic, Lizzo stood firmly in defense of those who use it to aid their weight loss goals.

“It’s not a cheat code. It’s a tool,” she said. “It’s something people turn to when they’re struggling, and it’s not easy. Calling someone a cheater for using it — that’s just fatphobia in disguise.”

Lizzo has been vocal about body image and self-love throughout her career, often clapping back at critics. In September 2024, she responded to an Instagram comment questioning her potential Ozempic use with a pointed reply: “whyyyy do u follow me?”

The following year, she clarified the real strategy behind her slimdown: a focus on caloric deficit and cutting back on sugar-heavy foods.

In an April update to her followers, she reminded fans that no single method works for everyone. “Everybody’s body is different,” she wrote. “Find what works for you.”

Her message now, as then, is simple: health isn’t one-size-fits-all — and everyone deserves the space to figure it out without judgment.
