Jinger Duggar Says ‘It’s Been a Heavy Season That Reopened Old Wounds’ amid Brother Joseph Duggar’s Child Molestation Charges

Jinger Duggar is opening up about the emotional toll of recent family events following the mid-March arrest of her brother, Joseph Duggar.

The Allegations and Charges Joseph, 31, faces serious charges in Florida including lewd and lascivious molestation of a child under 12 and lewd and lascivious behavior. The Bay County Sheriff’s Office reports the incident allegedly occurred in 2020 during a family vacation in Panama City Beach involving a 9-year-old victim.

Further legal issues have emerged in Arkansas, where Joseph and his wife, Kendra Duggar, 27, were both charged by the Tontitown Police Department. Their separate case includes:

  • Four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor (second degree).

  • Four counts of false imprisonment (second degree).

Jinger’s Response After maintaining a low profile since the news broke, Jinger, 32, addressed her well-being during an Instagram “Ask Me Anything” session on April 29. When a concerned follower noted that she seemed “disconnected” and reminded her that “it’s ok to not be okay,” Jinger acknowledged the difficulty of the situation.

Sharing a photo of a cross, she noted that it has been a “heavy season” that has “reopened old wounds.”

Jinger explained that while she intended to discuss these matters on her podcast, doing so has proven incredibly difficult. “I’ve been plugged in deep with my community here, not as active on socials, enjoying fun days with my little fam,” she shared, adding that she finds strength in her faith as she looks toward “brighter days ahead.”

This statement follows a brief March 25 episode of the Jinger & Jeremy podcast, where she and her husband, Jeremy Vuolo, first addressed Joseph’s arrest. During that episode, Jinger described her grief as “unthinkable,” stating, “I did not think my heart could break like it has this week.”

The situation has also forced Jinger to reflect on her family’s dark legal history. Her eldest brother, Josh Duggar, 38, is currently serving a prison sentence following a 2021 conviction for receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material. Josh, who was previously accused of abusing five girls including sisters Jill and Jessa, recently had two months added to his sentence in April 2026. He is now scheduled for release from FCI Seagoville on February 2, 2033.

On her March 25 podcast, Jinger expressed the crushing weight of the news, noting that even with her family’s history, one can never truly be prepared for such revelations. “It’s hard to know what to do sometimes, moving forward,” she admitted. “You just feel the weight of it.” In the wake of her comments, several of her siblings—including Jana, Jill, Jessa, and Joy-Anna—have also reacted to the allegations against Joseph and Kendra.
