A tense moment unfolded during a town hall event hosted by Florida Republican Rep. Byron Donalds when a protester was forcibly removed by security after a heated exchange over the war in Gaza.
The incident took place Monday night inside the auditorium of Estero High School. The woman began shouting at Donalds—an outspoken supporter of former President Donald Trump and current gubernatorial candidate—as he addressed questions from the audience.
The confrontation intensified when Donalds spoke critically about Hamas and the situation in Gaza.
“The Palestinians voted for Hamas and have done nothing to remove them. If you want to shout about the facts, let’s do it,” Donalds said, raising his voice over the protester. “Hamas held one election, one time. Since then, they’ve kept the Palestinian people under their boots.”
As the woman continued yelling, Donalds addressed her directly: “You’re being disrespectful. I respect that you’re here, I respect that you want answers. But if you’re going to disrupt the event, you need to leave.”
At that point, security officers intervened and escorted the woman out of the building. As she was being removed, she shouted, “Free, free Palestine!”
The town hall didn’t calm down for long. Donalds soon faced further pushback when discussing Elon Musk’s role in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), part of Trump’s federal restructuring plan.
Donalds defended Musk, calling him a “special employee” appointed by Trump, likening his role to John Kerry’s under President Biden. He explained that Musk was currently tasked with identifying inefficiencies in the federal government.
As murmurs and boos grew louder in the audience, Donalds pushed back: “You can boo if you want to, but those are the facts.”
The chaotic town hall highlights the political tension surrounding Trump allies and their policy proposals—especially as Donalds seeks to become Florida’s next governor.
