Elon Musk has stirred fresh controversy with a cryptic online response following a major update from the FBI and the Department of Justice regarding the long-speculated Jeffrey Epstein “client list.”
In a joint investigation, federal officials finally released long-awaited CCTV footage from Epstein’s prison cell, captured the day he died in August 2019. The convicted sex offender’s death, which occurred at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan, has fueled years of speculation, conspiracy theories, and public distrust.
However, in a recently declassified two-page memo, the FBI concluded there was no evidence that Epstein was murdered or that he blackmailed high-profile individuals, as long rumored. The bureau stated there is no credible basis for the widely circulated “client list,” despite widespread demands for transparency.
Yet the update has reignited backlash — not just toward the FBI, but also toward figures in the Trump administration, especially former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi. Earlier this year, Bondi vowed on Fox News that Epstein-related documents were “sitting on [her] desk,” and promised to review and release them under President Trump’s directive.
“Donald Trump doesn’t make empty promises,” she said. “I’m reviewing those files, along with JFK and MLK documents. That’s what we were instructed to do — make America safe and prosperous.”
Despite these claims, no such list or new revelations have been released, prompting growing frustration online.
Musk’s Meme: A Blistering Satire
Enter Elon Musk.
In his signature trolling style, the tech billionaire shared a meme — a popular format featuring a man dressing up as a clown, step by step — with each stage captioned to mock the shifting narrative around the Epstein list:
“WE WILL RELEASE THE EPSTEIN LIST.”
“WE JUST NEED MORE TIME.”
“THE EPSTEIN LIST IS ON MY DESK.”
“THERE IS NO EPSTEIN LIST.”
He captioned the post with nothing more than an exasperated, swearing-face emoji.
Musk later quote-tweeted a follow-up post asking, “What happened to the magical binders?” and “What happened to the client list on the desk?” Musk’s only response: “This is the final straw.”
Though vague, his comments suggest deepening skepticism about official narratives — especially as repeated promises of transparency have gone unfulfilled.
“The Government vs The People”?
Earlier that day, Musk also amplified a hard-hitting post that read:
“If the entire government is protecting pedophiles, it has officially become the government against the people.”
He then shared an image titled “The Official Jeffrey Epstein Pedophile Arrest Counter,” showing zero arrests and adding:
“What time is it? Oh look, it’s no-one-has-been-arrested-o’clock again…”
Past Accusations, Quickly Deleted
At the height of his tensions with Trump earlier this year, Musk controversially alleged that Trump himself was named in the Epstein files — a post he later deleted, admitting he may have “gone too far.” It’s worth noting that being named in any file does not equate to wrongdoing or criminal implication.
FBI’s Push Against Conspiracy Theories
The FBI’s latest memo marks the first time Trump-appointed officials at the bureau have formally contradicted conspiracy theories surrounding Epstein’s death and network. According to AXIOS, this represents a shift in how the federal government addresses narratives that have lingered in the public consciousness for years.
Despite that, many — including Musk — remain unconvinced.
Whether Musk’s trolling is pure satire or a veiled warning, one thing is clear: the internet isn’t ready to move on from Epstein — and trust in institutions remains on shaky ground.
