Dog the Bounty Hunter’s grandson, 13, is shot dead by his own FATHER in heartbreaking tragedy

Authorities have described the incident as an accidental shooting and an “isolated tragedy.” No arrests have been made, but the circumstances surrounding the death of the teenager remain under investigation.

The loss has left the family — and fans of the longtime television star — in shock.

A Life Cut Short
Anthony, remembered as a bright, spiritual, and joyful child, had spent last summer with his grandparents. During that visit, he shared a deeply moving story with Francie after she injured her ankle and was taken to the emergency room.

As they waited together in the hospital, Anthony told his grandparents he felt the presence of the Holy Spirit — describing an inexplicable wind that seemed to surround him in a moment of calm and clarity.

“The doors didn’t open, but I felt wind on my chest — and then again on my back,” Anthony had said. “I asked Meemaw what it was, and she told me, ‘It was the Holy Spirit.’”

Francie, who had been in pain, later said the discomfort vanished following a prayer and that doctors confirmed her ankle wasn’t broken.

Beyond his spiritual depth, Anthony had a vibrant personality. He loved comic conventions, dressing up and posing with characters like Predator, and dancing to Usher songs at home. He was also fascinated by the world of bounty hunting and firearms, often joining his father and step-grandfather at the shooting range.

In a 2021 post, Gregory had shared photos of himself and Anthony practicing with rifles — proud moments for a father and son, now viewed through a heartbreaking lens.

A Family Tied by Loss and Now Grief Once Again
Duane and Francie’s relationship was built on shared sorrow. Both were widowed shortly before finding one another in 2020. Duane had lost his beloved wife, Beth Chapman, to stage II throat cancer in 2019. Francie’s husband, Bob Frane, passed away just a year earlier, in 2018.

They bonded through grief, healing side by side.

“We understood the pain the other was feeling,” Francie told Entertainment Tonight at the time. “We could cry together, talk openly, and support each other through heartbreak. It brought us together in a truly profound way.”

Their resilience led them to marriage — they’ll mark their fourth wedding anniversary on September 2 — and a shared mission to help others heal. On November 15, the couple will host their 3rd Annual F.U.S.E. Restored Gala in Cape Coral, Florida, a charity event supporting the fight against human trafficking.

The gala, themed around old Hollywood glamor, will take place at The Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village.

But this year’s celebration will be shadowed by unimaginable grief.

Remembering Anthony
For Duane and Francie, Anthony’s death is not just a personal tragedy — it is the painful loss of a child whose life was only beginning. A boy who believed in God, loved his family, and brought joy to those around him. A boy whose life ended too soon, in a moment of devastating error.

The Chapman family has not yet made a public statement, but fans across the country are already expressing their condolences — remembering Anthony not as a headline, but as a young soul who deeply touched the lives of those around him.
