A Canadian man is facing charges of second-degree murder and concealment of a corpse after the body of his 9-year-old daughter, Melina Frattolin, was discovered in a shallow pond in upstate New York, just one day before he was due to return custody of the child to her mother.
Authorities say Luciano Frattolin, an entrepreneur from Montreal, allegedly killed Melina while they were returning from a weeklong vacation in the U.S., then fabricated an abduction story to cover up the crime. He had initially told police that his daughter had been kidnapped by two men in a white van near Lake George while he had stepped into the woods to urinate.
That story triggered an AMBER Alert—but it quickly unraveled.
