Girl, nine, in ‘imminent danger’ after being abducted in white van near vacation spot

Police in New York are in a race against time to locate Melina Galanis Frattolin, a 9-year-old girl who authorities believe was abducted Saturday night from the Lake George area by a suspect driving a white van.

The New York State Police (NYSP) have issued an Amber Alert, stating that Melina is in “imminent danger” of serious bodily harm or even death. The alert was triggered after Melina was last seen around 9:40 p.m. EST on Saturday, traveling southbound on Interstate 87 near exit 22 inside the unidentified white van.

“The child was taken under circumstances that lead police to believe that they are in imminent danger of serious bodily harm and/or death,” said NYSP in an official statement.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) is leading the abduction investigation. Authorities have yet to identify the suspect or obtain a vehicle license plate number.
