Michelle’s absence from these events has been seized upon by online gossipers as a sign of discord, despite no confirmation from the Obamas themselves.
Adding fuel to the fire, former The View co-host Meghan McCain recently claimed on a podcast that she’d heard talk of an Obama divorce “from reputable sources,” not from celebrity gossip sites.
Podcast host Tara Palmeri chimed in to say she’d heard similar chatter, linking the speculation to Michelle’s longstanding dislike of politics. But again, these claims remain entirely unsubstantiated.
Their Public Affection Tells a Different Story
In contrast to the swirling rumors, the Obamas continue to project unity and affection publicly. On Michelle Obama’s birthday in January, they posted photos of what appeared to be a cozy dinner celebration.
Then on Valentine’s Day, Barack posted a heartfelt tribute to his wife, writing, “Thirty-two years together and you still take my breath away.” Michelle responded by reposting the photo, calling Barack her “rock” and saying, “Always have been. Always will be.”
Such posts—public declarations of love—hardly align with the image of a couple headed for divorce. Rather, they suggest two people who have weathered the pressures of public life together and continue to value and affirm their partnership.
