‘He’s Not MAGA’ Trump Declares War on Republican Who Called Iran Strikes ‘Unconstitutional’

Trump went even further, accusing Massie of undermining the U.S. military by failing to acknowledge their “brilliance and bravery” during the Iran strikes. “Massie is weak, ineffective, and votes ‘NO’ on virtually everything put before him,” Trump continued. “The good news is that we will have a wonderful American Patriot running against him in the Republican Primary, and I’ll be out in Kentucky campaigning really hard.”

The threat wasn’t subtle: Trump is prepared to throw his full political weight behind a primary challenger to unseat Massie, something he’s done successfully with other anti-establishment Republicans before.

Massie, unfazed by the backlash, doubled down on his stance. He pointed to the Constitution and historical precedent. “This isn’t about Trump. This is about Congress reclaiming its constitutional authority over matters of war,” Massie said, referring to the bipartisan War Powers Resolution he co-authored with Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA). The measure aims to reassert congressional control over military engagements that have increasingly been carried out through executive orders or vague Authorizations for Use of Military Force (AUMFs).

“This is about reining in the executive and restoring the balance of powers,” Massie said. “If we don’t act now, we’re setting a precedent that any president — Republican or Democrat — can launch war at will.”

Trump’s decision to personally campaign against Massie comes at a time when the former president is riding high on the perceived success of the Iran strikes. Pentagon officials have praised the precision and effectiveness of “Operation Midnight Hammer,” and U.S. allies like Israel have publicly supported the move. However, critics warn that bypassing congressional approval for a major military action — especially one with global implications — raises fundamental legal and constitutional concerns.

Behind the scenes, GOP strategists are already bracing for a potentially bruising primary. Massie has a strong libertarian base in Kentucky and has consistently won reelection. But a Trump-backed challenger with national MAGA funding and grassroots mobilization could pose a serious threat.

For now, the Republican civil war over Iran may just be beginning. The question is whether the party will rally behind the president’s show of strength — or heed the warnings of those who still believe Congress, not the Oval Office, should decide when America goes to war.
