Elon Musk is Now Going After NY AG Letitia James in Explosive Lawfare Battle

Despite concerns over constitutionality, New York Governor Kathy Hochul defended the law, claiming it provides “transparency and security” for users. Meanwhile, State Senator Brad Hoylman-Sigal took aim at Musk personally, saying, “The fact that Elon Musk would go to such lengths to avoid basic transparency shows exactly why this legislation is necessary.”

Letitia James, for her part, has continued her pattern of politicized litigation. In a recent public appearance, she rattled off a list of legal victories her office has secured—many against federal entities and private organizations. “We initiated legal action regarding probationary employees—we won. We sued the National Health Institute—we secured a preliminary injunction,” she declared, boasting about her progressive legal agenda.

Her rhetoric escalated further as she accused Musk and federal officials of operating above the law. “They have overstepped their authority,” she claimed. “Elon Musk, individuals at the Treasury, and even the President of the United States must be held accountable. No one is above the law, and we will persist.”

The lawsuit by X Corp not only challenges the limits of state power in regulating online speech but also reflects a deeper ideological divide within the United States: between those pushing for tighter controls in the name of safety and those defending unfiltered expression as the cornerstone of democracy.
