Democrat Congresswoman Caught in Multi-Million $$$ Corruption Scheme

A Florida Democrat is now at the center of a rapidly intensifying political scandal, as the House Ethics Committee has flagged potential violations of both federal law and House rules by Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D-FL). The allegations stem from claims that the congresswoman knowingly accepted grossly inflated invoices and funneled the proceeds into her own campaign fund—raising serious concerns about corruption and misuse of public funds.

On May 29, 2025, the House Ethics Committee released a detailed report outlining its preliminary findings on the matter. Representing Florida’s 20th Congressional District, Rep. Cherfilus-McCormick has now acknowledged the possibility that she may have violated campaign finance laws and internal House policies. However, she denies the more explosive accusation: that she received millions of dollars in overpayments from a Florida state agency and personally benefited from them.

The committee’s report goes further, suggesting that Rep. Cherfilus-McCormick “may have extended preferential treatment to personal acquaintances” through her office’s community project funding requests. Additionally, it raises the possibility that she received campaign donations in direct connection with official congressional actions—an ethical red flag that could signal quid pro quo arrangements.

Despite the gravity of the accusations, the Ethics Committee was cautious in its public statements. In an official press release, the committee clarified that the launch of an investigation “does not itself indicate that any violation has occurred,” and that no further public comment would be made unless required by Committee rules.
