Former NFL star and Super Bowl LII champion Bryan Braman has passed away at just 38, following a heartbreaking fight with a rare and aggressive form of cancer.
His agent, Sean P. Stellato, confirmed the tragic news Thursday, marking the end of a journey that began with undrafted grit and ended in a city of champions. Braman, a native of Spokane, Washington, leaves behind two daughters.
🏈 From Undrafted Underdog to Super Bowl Hero
Braman’s NFL story was the stuff of legends. After playing at three different colleges, he carved out a reputation as a relentless edge rusher and special teams ace. He suited up for the Houston Texans, Philadelphia Eagles, and New Orleans Saints — but it was with the Eagles that he found his moment of glory.
In 2018, Braman helped power the Eagles to their historic Super Bowl LII victory over the Patriots, even recording a tackle in the big game — his final NFL appearance.
His biggest play came just weeks earlier when he blocked a critical punt in a divisional-round playoff game against the Falcons, swinging momentum and cementing his place in Philly lore.

In February, Braman was diagnosed with a rare, unnamed cancer. A GoFundMe campaign launched to support his treatment revealed he had undergone a cutting-edge CAR-T cell therapy in Seattle. Initially promising, the cancer returned with a vengeance.

But Braman never stopped fighting. “He is determined to never give up,” organizer William Jones wrote in a June 20 update.
Former teammate JJ Watt donated $10,000 to the fundraiser, while others like Emmanuel Acho helped amplify the campaign. Nearly $90,000 was raised before Braman’s passing.
